this mirror is meant to be a translation of one that was mounted at the bottom of the stairs of my house for the majority of my childhood. the frame is cnced in five separate parts out of hard maple and joined from the back, with an inset hand cut glass mirror. separate from the memories attached to this object, i’ve always been infatuated with this mirror because of its form. it’s such a silly object made so serious because of its ‘function’. i wanted to make this mirror because of the personal associations of home that is has for me, but also the icon of a window for others to project their own ideas on as well as enjoy the look and touch of.
